Frequently asked questions
What dates are you open during the winter season?
We open for overnight guests on December 27 and remain open till March 15. We begin grooming as soon as there is enough snow and we will open on weekends for day skiers.
Do you offer rentals?
Yes we have a variety of rental equipment for the whole family! Skis, boots, poles and snowshoes in sizes for small children to adults. We also have a Thule on skis available for parents to tote gear and little ones along.
Are your trails well marked?
Our trails are well-marked to help you navigate with ease. You’ll find signs throughout the trail system indicating your current intersection which makes wayfinding simple and enjoyable. For those who like a bit of technology, most of our trails can also be found on apps like TrailForks, making it easy to plan routes and stay on course.
Please remember that our trails cross land managed by various partner organizations, and it’s essential to stay on the trail and avoid traversing the lakes. Respecting these agreements helps ensure that our vibrant trail system remains open and enjoyable for everyone.
What is the difficulty rating of the trails?
Our trail network is extensive and offers a variety of terrain for all skill levels. For beginners and families, we have a few shorter loops that are perfect for getting started.
For skiers:
Roth Loop – a 3 km trail close to the lodge, ideal for a quick, easy outing.
Eva’s Way – a scenic trail along the creek. If you’d like to avoid added difficulty, do an out-and-back on this trail rather than descending Home Run Hill — unless you’re looking for a bit more challenge (or fun!).
For snowshoers:
Otter Trail – starting at the parking lot, this trail meanders alongside the creek and leads directly to the lodge’s waterfall. It’s a gentle, beautiful route for beginners.
Not sure which trail is right for you? Give the lodge a call or chat with one of our staff — we’re happy to help you plan a route that matches your comfort level.
Are there washrooms availble on the trail system?
Long days on the trails can make you worry when nature calls. Luckily, our trail system has outhouses at the warming huts and in various spots along the way.
Is Stokely just for overnight guests?
Absolutely not! We have day passes available for skiers and snowshoers. Give us a call ahead of time and we can pack you a lunch to take with you on the trails or stop in for a beverage and a snack before heading back home.
How far is the lodge from the parking lot, can I drive in?
The main lodge is located about 400 meters (1/4 mile) from the parking lot. You must walk, ski, or snowshoe to the Lodge from your vehicle during the winter. Snowmobile transportation is available for your luggage and gear. You can call us when you are leaving town or from the parking lot, and we’ll send a porter to meet you upon your arrival.
During the remainder of the year you can drive right up to the lodge to access the trails and for private events.

During the remainder of the year we allow friendly and leashed dogs to accompany you while out on the trails. We love animals, but please note that all pets are brought onto the property at the owner’s risk. Stokely Creek Lodge cannot be held responsible for any harm, injury, or incidents involving pets.
