Winter has come again to Stokely Creek: the skiing and snowshoeing are good, and we are expecting yet more snow soon. As usual, we've got a lot going on; take a moment to check out what we've planned for February -- we'd love to have you join us for some winter fun!
Women's Getaway: February 6Looking for a fun outing with your friends? Join us for a one-of-a kind event on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6, from 10am to 2pm. Enjoy plenty of good food, Champagne, chocolate, and fellowship with friends. Stokely is just a short distance from the Sault, but far enough to get away from it all. Come for a relaxing day on the trails, or just to hang out.
Registration fees will help raise funds for a Sault Women’s Crisis group. Cost is $20 for the day, or free with the purchase of an overnight stay.
Newberry Honor Award Winning Author Coming to Stokely: February 11-13Calling all book clubs and writers: internationally acclaimed author Gary Schmidt is coming to Stokely! Ski, snowshoe, or just relax with your friends by day, and join us for fire-side chats with Gary in the evenings. He will be discussing his Newberry Honor Award winning books The Wednesday Wars and Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy.
Paintball Biathlon: February 19You don't need to be a winter Olympian to have fun with skis and a (paintball) rifle -- just come out to Stokely Lodge on February 19 for our first ever Paintball Biathlon! No previous experience is necessary; we'll teach you what you need to know, and all paintballing equipment will be provided courtesy of Treetop Adventures. Teams of three will ski (classic or skate, it's up to you) in relay format. You can form your own team, or else we'll be happy to put you in one when you arrive. You'll have eight shots to hit five targets, with a penalty loop for missed shots. And oh, yes: there are prizes!
Registration and practice starts at 10am, and the race kicks off at 11. Registration is $10 for children aged 14 or 15, and $15 for everyone 16 and above. Lunch will be available for sale at the Hannes house. This is a one-of-a-kind event in the Sault area -- you won't want to miss out!
