Our first annual Snowfest event was a smashing success!
Jan.18, 2010
The majority of particiants were from Sault Ste, Marie and the Goulais River area. Many had never been to Stokely Creek Lodge before, and were quite impressed with the world class facility that we have here. One of the favorite destinations for the snowshoe event was the West Peak cabin on King Mountain. The view is spectacular up there and is well worth the climb. The interior of the cabin was re-done in cedar and with the warmth of the wood stove makes for a cozy and comfortable break before making the descent. Over 200 people turned up for the event over the weekend and we couldn’t have asked for nicer weather. The kitchen did a great job of supplying generous amounts of tasty chili, so no one should have gone away hungry. The prizes were handed out on Sunday to the lucky winners. This was a good start to a yearly event that will only grow in popularity. By making the Dayskiers Cabin the reception area for the snowshoe event, there was virtually no conflict with our skiing guests at the lodge. Because our snowshoe trails are completely separate from the ski trails, skiers hardly knew that a snowshoe event was being held!
