I knew that the title would grab your interest. Now the rest of the story.

As I’ve mentioned before, Stokely just has a way of putting a song in your heart as you ski or snowshoe her beautiful trails. For Dave Campbell, a long time faithful skier at Stokely and a pretty good guitar player and singer, he went one step further and put that song into lyrics and music. The end result was a song entitled “Out Beyond the Outhouse” which he sang for us the other night in the Clubhouse. While the title may not strum a romantic chord in your heart, it not the less expresses some of the more pressing matters of life. Stokely boasts a number of “strategically” placed outhouses on her trail system to deal with those pressing moments. While it may not be a romantic moment, it can certainly be an affectionate one as you peer through the heart cut out of the front door of the new outhouse located by the warming cabin on top of the west peak of King Mountain. By the way Dave, I often find myself singing the chorus of “Out Beyond The Outhouse” as I go about my duties for the day. In fact I’m humming it right now!
